We can set up Emmy so that patients can reliably distinguish for themselves whether they are infectious or not.

Infectious or non-infectious - can the patient distinguish?

Practices that have patients booked through Emma like to use the separation of office hours into infectious and non-infectious patients, especially during periods of increased respiratory infections.

The default Emmy setup assumes that the practice decides whether or not a patient is infectious based on a completed patient questionnaire. It does so by changing the category on the request to "Infectious" or "Non-Infectious". With this upfront assessment, the practice can also tailor the length of the order needed and then let the patient choose the appointment or, alternatively, let the patient choose the appointment directly (perhaps with the option for the patient to adjust the appointment themselves if needed).

If you want to save yourself this overclicking in the practice, you can create multiple versions of the "I have a medical condition" request. Simply copy it and rename one as "Health problems infectious - cough, cold, temperature, sore throat" and the other as "Health problems other - non-infectious". It is then advisable to disable the questions for non-infectious symptoms (using the "Edit field" function) for the infectious type of request and vice versa to disable the questions for infectious symptoms for the non-infectious type of request.

Just set the category to "Infectious" or "Non-Infectious" and then you can also adjust the default order length for each type.

You can also add the option to actively confirm the absence of infectious symptoms for the non-infectious request type, as MUDr. Kiseľáková has. Without active confirmation by the patient that they have no temperature or signs of respiratory infection, the patient cannot submit a non-infectious request type.

MUDr. Kiseľáková evaluates this solution as follows, "I am satisfied with the division of requirements into infectious and non-infectious, I think it works well for us and it speeds up our work. The infectious ones are always at the end of the working hours, we have implemented this since the beginning of Covid. 98% of the patients respect this, occasionally an infectious non-considered patient will show up in the healthy hours, but we always educate and teach that."

Or you can create multiple variations, as M.D. Sobotka has, such as "I have a medical condition - I have symptoms of a respiratory illness (cough, runny nose, etc.)" for which you set the infectious category right away. Then, for example, ""I have a health problem - difficulty urinating", where you set the category "non-infectious", etc. Another advantage is that you can preset that you usually need 10 min for respiratory infections and 20 min for non-infectious abdominal pain.
